She comes upon a wall. It is large, foreboding, and obscures her path. In her naïveté, the girl attempts to speak to the wall.

“Pardon me, but would you mind moving?”

No response. It glares at her sternly, as if daring her to speak again. Yet the glare does not hold effect.

“Would you mind very much to move? There’s something I’d like to reach on the other side…” Her voice drops off. She considers dismantling the obstacle with her bare hands, but then the reward would be without value. Spotting an easier route, she changes direction completely and leaves the wall.

Days later, the girl frequents the same spot. But this time, she merely glances at the wall. She has forgotten what is behind the structure- that which she had worked so hard for. Now, he can do nothing but be left behind as she moves on.

A/N: I realize the shortness of this piece. However, this was all that the situation desired, so please critique it as you see fit.
