smoke billows from the

tops of sky-high stones

into air laced with sweet

smoke lingering from the

countless cigarettes and cigars

that hang from youthful lips

smoke whispers from the

breath of weary travelers

frozen by the ruthless wind

it mingles with the

smoke polluting from the

rows and rows of traffic

rushing to arrive nowhere

and everywhere, behind the

smoke left by the

endless drops of dirty rain

you can see the lights

away in the distance

somehow shining through

to break

an airway

through the

days and days and days

of suppressive

suffocating

somber

sticky

sweet

smoke.
