Bittersweet Leah

The name bittersweet
Falls sweetly from the tongue
Bitter like the bell that signals
That our time is done

You’re like addicting chocolate
Dark and bittersweet
Kisses like red bean mochi
Lips too good not to eat

The aching in my belly
Goes away when we embrace
I’m addicted to the bittersweet
The loveliness of your face

I think I’ve lost my mind
But I just can’t seem to care
When your head is on my shoulder
And my fingers in your hair

How I hate that bell
The one that rings the time
I wish everything could stop
I wish you could be mine

I’d be yours in the return
I already am
Though the bell will ring
Though it hurts to part

The name bittersweet
Falls sweetly from the tongue
Bitter like the bell that signals
That our time is done
