Story #2
10-14-05
Out for a Love SpellThe three Wyrdsen sisters were shuffling around; one sister in the garden, other was in the kitchen, and the last sister came back from the occult store. Isabelle Wyrdsen grabbed the red, white and pink roses from the garden. Christine Wyrdsen went to the cupboard to get the red, white and pink candles that were wrapped in a bag. Rachel Wyrdsen had come back from the occult store with three medium-size rose quartzes in a small bag. All three girls hadn’t had a date since the boys in their neighbor thought that all three girls were crazy, just like their mother and grandmother. The girls were constantly teased about their weirdness by the boys in high school. Most of the boys thought that they communicated with aliens or dead spirits. Some of the boys caught them and their mother and grandmother doing some type of weird ritual in their backyard. Other had seen them going to different park to do more weird like rituals in the open. After the high school graduation ceremony, Isabelle confessed her love towards Jack Tier, the football star, whom she had a crush on since ninth grade. He gave her an evil look and laughed, “Yeah right, Izzy. Like I am going to go out with you. You are just to weird and crazy for me, Wrydsen.” After high school and college graduations, the girls decided to conjure up love for them.
“I got the three rose quartzes that we need for tonight,” Rachel shouted, as she was coming through the front door.
“Ok! I got the candles,” said Christine as she was walking towards her sister from the kitchen.
“Where’s Isabelle? Doesn’t she know that we need those roses for tonight’s ritual?”
“I think she is out in the garden getting them.”
“Oh. Ok,” Rachel said as she followed her sister up the stairs towards the attic.
Isabelle had come in from the garden with three different colored roses each in a gold brown basket. I hope it works, she thought to herself, I am sick and tried of being lonely. After I told the star quarterback of West Allis Central High, Jack Tier, during our graduation, that I had a crush on him, he laughed at me and told me that I was too weird for him. When the high school reunion comes up with my handsome husband at my side, he wished that he would went out with me.
She joined her sisters upstairs in the attic, where they practiced their magical workings. The three of them were very skillful witches, just like their mother before them and her mother before her. The Wyrdsen family took pride in being descendants of witches from England and Norway. Magic was in their blood. That night was a very special night, for they planned on calling on Freyja, the Goddess of Love, to bring Isabelle, Christine, and Rachel their true love.
“Where do you want the cauldron set up? Over here on the table in the middle of the room or over there, on the bench by the windows?” asked Rachel as she was holding it in her hands while looking at Isabelle.
“Place it on the table in the middle of the room. Put it in the center of the table with the candles around it. Christine, did you bring the paper and a red pen?”
“Ah, no. I’ll go and get it right a way,” Christine said as she ran down the stairs to get them.
“I can’t wait. I hope that I will get a guy who looks like Johnny Depp and that we will live happily ever after,” Rachel said as she was setting up the candles.
“For crying out loud, Rachel. Remember what Mom and Grams taught us? Does the ‘rule of three’ ring any bells in your brain? Mom and Grams would have killed you!” Isabelle said in a serious tone, trying to imitate their mom and grandmother.
“But, it still would be nice.”
“Yeah, but think about it, there might be a guy who could sweep you off your feet who might be more handsome than Johnny Depp,” Isabelle said, smiling warmly towards her sister as she was pouring water in the crystal glass.
“I got three pieces of paper and three red pens. Shall we begin?” Christine asked as she was climbing up the stairs.
“Just about. The roses need to be placed around the candles and then we need to sit around the table. According to the Book of Shadows, we need to write with a red pen the words, ‘Bring true love to Christine, for example. Freyja, Goddess of Love, bring to me my one true love.’ Then place the paper into the cauldron and light the paper on fire and chant, ‘Freyja, Goddess of Love and Beauty, we ask of you to bring love into our lives. Make it real and make it true. We are tired of being alone. Find our true loves that we can be together. As we will it, so shall it be!’ And that’s it,” said Isabelle as she grabbed the huge, thick Book of Shadows, and went to her place by the table.
Isabelle’s sisters followed her as they took their seats at the table. They began to meditate for five minutes, closing their eyes to envision about the men that they want to love and the men loving them in return, while holding the rose quartzes in their hands. They pictured in their mind very gorgeous, strong and smart men, who looked like the firefighters on the milk-sponsored calendars or the guys on the covers of the romance novels. After that, Rachel gotten up to cast the circle, so that negative energy couldn’t get in and disturb them in their ritual. Christine took a lighter and lit the candles one by one, feeling the presence of warmth, security and happiness in the room. Isabelle wrote the names of her sisters and herself on the three pieces of paper with the red pen. The three of them called the quarters of the four major wind directions and of the four major elements; North, East, South, and West, earth, air, fire and water.
When the calling was done, the Wyrdsen sisters sat down again and called the Goddess Freyja into their circle to aid them in their love spell.
“Goddess Freyja,” they chanted, “we call upon you tonight to help us find our true love. Surround us with the love within your presence. Bring beauty and happiness into our lives. Bring us loving, devoting, and caring husbands. We ask of you, Gracious Goddess. So shall it be!”
All of a sudden, they felt a warm, friendly, happy and loving presence in the attic. The sisters felt as if they were being loved by someone from a far. Each of them felt happy and pleased with this presence.
Then they threw the paper into the cauldron and lit the paper on fire and chanted. The fire in the cauldron crackled like wood in a fireplace. Each sister began to smile as their spell was going out into the universe, hoping to bring love into their lives.
When the paper was done burning, the sisters raised their arms up towards the heavens and thanked the Goddess for helping them in their ritual. They thanked the four quarters for aiding them in their ritual. They opened up the circle to release the positive energy into the world.
“That was fun! So when do we met our boys?” Rachel said curiously.
“It takes time, Rachel. The Goddess might send our loves to us when She feels that we are ready,” said Isabelle as she was picking up the Book of Shadows to place it in the trunk.
“Come on Isabelle. You are not still sore about Jack Tier rejecting you? Are you? Because if you are, I can introduce to one of my coworkers at my job at law firm. One of the guys can make you forget about that loser,” said Rachel as she was making the loser sign on her forehead with her index finger and thumb shaped in a ‘L’ form.
“No thanks, Rach. I think I will leave it up to fate.”
“I hope love finds us soon. Sometimes I can hear my clock ticking loudly that it drives me crazy,” said Christine as she grabbed up the roses to put them in a glass vase.
“Me too,” Rachel agreed.
“Me three,” joined Isabelle.
“Hey, what are we going to do about the rose quartz that we have?” asked Christine, while showing her sisters the stone in her hands.
“You can put it in your pocket or wear it around your neck, silly. It’s supposed to bring love to you,” Rachel said, as she shot a grin to Christine.
“Come on girls,” Isabelle waved towards their direction, “I know that there is a big piece left of that Black Forest cake that we can share. I hope that Merlin didn’t get a hold of it.”
“Yeah, like the last time he did, he put three rotten apple cores in place of that pumpkin bread. I wished what was that cat’s problem any,” said Christine as she placed the candleholders on the bookshelf.
“I think he is to doing it because you are not feeding him or we not give him enough attention. One of the two, I don’t know,” said Rachel as she was turning left towards the door to the stairs.
Each girl smiled as they headed down the stairs towards the kitchen to finish up the last piece of Black Forest chocolate cake.
