The Curious Black Cat

By Jareth Sparrow

Merlin was curious about the supernatural events happening in the Wyrdsen household. As a black, medium build, long whiskers, with pointy ears cat, Merlin was good with his cat magic, making everyday objects disappear without a trace and placing them with something creepy.

“When are these girls going to feed me?” he said as his stomach growled.

Merlin slowly crawled from his very soft, blue cat bed towards the kitchen, where the cat food was kept. Using his night vision, he went into the kitchen making sure that the Wyrdsen girls were not in the direct path to his food dish. He saw that it was empty.

“Where’s the food?” Merlin said, looking disgusted as he stared at his empty food dish.

“Why didn’t they fill up this damn dish! I am starving! Those girls need to know that MY needs come first before their department shopping needs!” Merlin sat there next to his empty dish for a few minutes until an idea, like a bat catching his prey, hit him. He thought of the idea of conjuring up food for himself but he thought it would be better to take human food for himself. His plan of revenge was prefect.

“Since they didn’t feed me, I will find food for myself. Let’s see…”

His green cat-eyes studied the cupboards and the kitchen counters. Merlin, using his hind and fore legs, jumped on the counter to get to a better view. Then he noticed something on the cutting board. When he saw it, he wanted pay back for not being feed. His mouth watered.

“Merlin, Merlin, eat me! Come over here and eat me!” it cried out in his mind.

“Ahh,” he thought, “there is my food.”

On the cutting board, sat a big piece of Black Forest Chocolate cake. The cake was a four layer dark brown cake, with light brown frosting on the out and inside with black sprinkles on top.

“Dinner time,” as he opened up his mouth wide and gobbled the whole piece of cake down. The cake tasted so sweet, like the catnip that he usual eats. After finishing the cake, Merlin said, “Better put a fake cake in its place before it is discovered missing.”

Merlin used his cat magic to conjure up a nice, big, fat, brown, dead rat, to trick the girls.

“Ha, ha, ha, they’ll never know it’s me,” Merlin grinned as he jumped down from the counter, leaving a trail of chocolate paw prints.
