Hey. Happy anti-cowardice day (October 20th). I wrote this poem especially for this day… ‘Fear Before Flight’ is the other one related to the events of this day last year.

I’m so damn happy.

Scattered Dandelion Fluff

You said you would always protect me

like a dandelion your words float away on the breeze

you are the speck of a floating flower

or weed

while I cower in the storm

this little bird wants to take refuge in a tree

and build her nest where it cannot be found

by the rain

you pushed me out into the cold

from our unprotected hollow

while a hawk circled overhead

her accusatory glare seared into my eye

with your negligence

This was a year ago

now I will fly to my newly-found tree

I preen myself happily

and wish for you to be scattered over the earth

to land in water

never again to flower

as I once allowed you to

(October 19th-20th, 2006)
