The world that We Passed By

This world is one we’ve chosen

And now we can’t turn back.

But there was one other option

A peaceful one, in fact.

But we chose to war and slaughter

And we left that chance behind,

And now we can’t turn back at all,

We must live with this, you’ll find.

But there was another option,

One we might prefer:

A chance we left behind,

A world that we passed by

Full of peaceful people

Who always saw eye-to-eye.

The difference in opinions

Would not cause any strife

People could live equally

A husband and his wife.

But there’s nothing we can do now

The forest has grown in

And we cannot turn back now

We can’t take back our sin.

And the chance we left behind,

The world that we passed by

Full of peaceful people

Who always saw eye-to-eye

This world is out of reach now

And we’re doomed forever more

Unless we stop this warring

And learn that we can soar

For the chance may not be left behind

The world may not be passed

And all those peaceful people

May still have a chance to last.

Because it’s our choice to stop fighting

And it’s our choice to find

The good in all Earth’s people

And find peace with all our kind.

Can we find the chance we left behind,

The world that we passed by?

Can we be those peaceful people

Who always saw eye-to-eye?
