Into the story:

John was not always a bad pirate, once he was a normal man, no less normal then me and you. He was a man who loved and got his heart broken. He was not like other pirates, he had a heart and that’s why at that moment he dropped his sword and looked at Mr. Ransom.

“You don’t deserve to die, I do, so, strike true, fair man, fast and true,” Mr. Ransom had him stop talking and also dropped his sword.

“Look, neither of us deserve to die lets just call this a truce.” At that moment the men herd a thump behind them and turned to see a young girl that neither of these men had ever seen before. Both gave the other a side glance and then they walked up to the body lying unconsciously.

“Who is that?” Mr. Ransom asked curiously looking to Sir John.

“Well, I haven’t the slightest idea, mate.” Sir John answered raising his brow puzzled.

“What is it?” Sir John asked.

“What do you mean what is it? Have you not seen a human before?” Mr. Ransom joked.

“No, that’s not what I mean. It looks like a female, yet it is wearing trousers and this hideous blouse, if you could even call that a blouse.” Sir John said with a confused smirk.

“Good point. How do you suppose that this- well, um, it got here?” His mate answered.

Both of the men leaned over Riley as she began to move ever so slightly. Then Riley jumped up smashing into both of the watchers with her head.

“Ouch! That hurt!” Mr. Ransom shouted.

“Ye got yer’ self a hard head there matey!” Sir John said, as he rubbed his sore head.

“Where am I?” Riley asked.

“The Corral Ship, but of course!” Mr. Ransom said matter-of-factly.

“Wait, The Corral Ship? That sounds awfully familiar.” Riley said trying to spark some memory of where she had heard that name.

“But of course ye’ have, it tis only the greatest ship to ever sail the seas! Everyone has heard of it!” Sir John said.

As the sea of thoughts ran rapidly she finally realized something.

“Wait, I know who you are! I know where I am! I know! But how am I here?” She said sitting in total confusion.

“Well, it looks like it finally realized where it is, if you ask me I find it a bit slow.” Sir John said watching Riley.

“I’m not an it! I am a she and my name is Riley Simmons, thank you. And whether you would like to believe me or not both of you don’t even exist!” She said back to Sir John.

“Who are you to say that we don’t exist?” Mr. Ransom said angrily.

“I think she’s not going to exist in a minute.” Sir John huffed.

“I’m sorry; it’s just that it’s really weird talking to people who you created.” She explained.

“Great, now loony over here thinks she’s god!” Sir John boomed.

“I do not think I am god! I did create you, and I can prove it! If I’m right then whatever I write down in this notebook, with this here quill will happen.” She informed them. She took out her quill pen and notebook from the inside pocket of her jacket. The two men went to stand behind her to see what she was doing. Then Riley wrote the words.

Just then a wave rocked the boat, and Sir John fell on to his back side.

“That’s ridiculous! I never fall!” Sir John said laughing at what he saw. However seconds later a wave splashed up against the ship tilting it ever so slightly yet still enough for Sir John’s weight to off balance and send him falling on his rear end.

Just then she remembered back to when the pen was given to her. Her grandmother’s words rang throughout her head.

We want you to write a story, with that quill of yours, just one thing deary, once you start a story with it, do finish it.”

“Oh no, what have I done?” Riley asked aloud.

“I don’t know but you have to be out of your mind to write such a thing knowing you have such control, gosh, why didn’t you at least tell us?” Sir John said sarcastically.

Mr. Ransom smiled. Then he saw that the girl was not smiling.

“What’s wrong, little girl?” Mr. Ransom asked.

“I accidentally did something I was not supposed to do. You see my grandmother told me that once I started to write a story with the quill pen I wasn’t to stop for anything, and I stopped the story it was never completed.”

“You mean our story?” Sir John asked.

“Yes the story that we are in just this minute,” she answered.

“So, what happens now?” Asked Mr. Ransom

“I am not quite sure…wait I know, possibly if I finish the story there will be nothing to say in, it will be over, done, I would have to go home, that or be written into oblivion.” Riley said now pacing.

“Give it a try!” Sir John said.

“Yes, it is worth a try!” Mr. Ransom seconded.

Riley nodded to the two men and began to write like she had never written before. She most certainly made sure though to give them a wonderful ending, their perfect happily ever after. Once she had finished writing down everything she held her breath and wrote down the two final words that closed every fairy tale.

“The End” She read aloud and just as the words slipped from her mouth the ships pole fell and hit her head. She woke up in her bed to her mother in her door way.

“Hey there sleepy head,” she said from the doorway.

“Mom!,” she cried and ran and gave her mom a giant hug.

“We were wondering if you would like to come and get some ice cream.”

“If it involves ice cream, I’m in!”

“Okay sweet heart.” Her mom said with a laugh and then left her room. Riley then let out a disappointed sigh, it was all a dream. That was too bad, she really wished that pens were magical and things like this really happened to people like her. She looked down once more at the notebook Amy had given her. Riley gasped in disbelief, it couldn’t have been a dream the story was finished, just like she wrote. Riley Simons left the house quill pen in hand, having no idea what adventures laid ahead for her.
