Let me Run

Through the Night

And into Morning,

And even longer then.

Don’t let me look Back,

Lest my journey falters.

I must Run

Against all other’s wishes.

Let me Run

Towards the red horizon

Which has before

Been denied me.

I will go beyond the Sun,

Beyond the Moon,

Beyond the Stars,

And past all reckoning.

Let me Run

From the Battle.

Call me coward,

Call me wretch.

You cannot know

Why I run.

No one knows,

As it should be.

Do you wish

To hold me back?

Perhaps, if it’s you

That asks,

I may stay this once.
