Sorry about the LONG wait, but I've been busy. It also took forever to figure out how I was going to do this too. I had like 10 different things I wanted to do. Anyways, this chapter is in third person, please tell me what you guys think of it. I'm thinking only chapters not from Akina's point of view will be like this. Anyways after my Grant is all finished with I'll have more time to write. And again I'm sorry for the long delay, and short chapter. Next one will be longer I promise. Well hope you guys read this one, and like it its interesting.
High in a tree Connara sat watching her mark, as he banked his fire. It was truly amazing how stupid humans where, she thought to herself. She had been following him all day and yet he still didn't know she was there.
She sat still for a few more minutes as he curled up into his sleeping bag. Finally, after she deemed enough time had passed, Connara jumped out of the tree and floated neatly down to the ground. If he saw her now it wouldn't really matter seeing as there was nothing he could do. Though Connara preferred to sneak up on marks, it was more fun that way.
So, with the black night as her cloak she creped up to the camp of her mark Andrew Malor. He was one of several thousand people born without magic, since the dragons where now growing fewer in numbers now a days. The non dragons had decided to get rid of those with power, and it was quite easy too. The dragons no longer really cared for each other. They where torn apart, and could care less about what happened to others like them.
Though come to think about it Lemay was the only city of power left. The world used to be full of cities like that, with houses in the trees, and on the water. Some houses even floated above the ground! Now a days those cities are all but stories and Lemay is a well guarded secret.
Maybe it would be wise to go to Lemay to build my army even stronger, Connara thought to herself as she pulled her sword out of its sheath. Andrew seamed to have heard that, seeing as he bolted upright from his bed. Connara starred him strait in the eyes, while smelling the fear pouring off of him.
"Well now that was fun," She laughed as she waited for him to grab a weapon.
Connara preferred a fair fight, and seldom did she kill someone who couldn't fight back. So, she waited as she climbed out of his covers to face her. She watched him grab his sword, and she smiled. He lunged for her, and she blocked him. She was good with a sword, she had been tough to use one at a very young age, so she knew what to do. She kept blocking him as he tried desperately to break her defense. Though, after a while he realized she was only trying to tire him out, so he began to circle her.
"Getting smarter human," she teased.
Andrew opened his mouth to say something, but before he could he fell down to the ground dead.
"Aw, come on that's no fair," Connara said looking up at the figure which now stood in front of her.
"Well I'm sorry to ruin your fun, but I have something I must discuss with you," the figure said in a calm voice.
With her excellent night vision, Connara was able to see her mother as clear as if it where a bright day out. Her mother, Yima, Stood before her in her human form. It was a rare thing to see her as a human, but when she was seen she was beautiful. Her face was always kind looking even when she was angry. While her eyes where the purest of all blues, and they held her symbol in them. Tonight, she wore her hip length red hair fully down, and she was dressed in a simple white gown and cloak. She was simply stunning.
Connara took more after her mother then she did her father. She had the same build, and look to her. Her eyes where as blue as her mothers too, along with her own unique symbol. Her hair though was her fathers, a deep brown that fell to her mid back, and was usually braided. She had many boys after her, yet she took no interest in them which made them mad. So, it was no wonder her mother preferred he wolf shape to the human one.
"So you have a job for me then?"
"I do if you're interested."
"I am."
"There is a girl I need you to look after. She is living in Lemay at the moment. She comes from earth, so she has no powers. Though she is very strong, one of the strongest water dragons I have seen in ages. I want you to take her to me in four days when they have that festival of theirs. Bring her down river you'll know where I am. I wish to unlock her powers."
"Now this is going to be interesting. Wolf form I'm guessing."
Yima nodded, "If you don't mind, and don't worry about not being able to find her. You'll feel her power, that's how you will find her. Now I wish I could stay a bit longer, but I have work that needs to be set into place."
"I understand," Connara said wishing her mother really didn't have to go.
"Alright then see you in four day," Yima smiled as she disappeared leaving only a puddle of water where she had been standing.
This was going to be fun, it was very unusual for Yima, or any of the gods or goddesses for that mater, to get interested in a human. This girl must be something special. So without a moment's hesitation she quickly scratched out a note on some paper, and sent it on the wind to her camp. It would tell her army where she would be, and they would get there in a week from today. So, with that out of the way she disappeared in a gust of wind, and a few seconds later reappeared outside the city of Lemay.
