Some say

Cartoons, comics, and the sort

Are for little kids,

And that they should enter the real world

By the age of ten.

I know for a fact

This isn’t true.

Adults only say that

Because adults had told them that

When they were younger.

They want to “escape” from the pain,

Anger, sorrow, and despair,

But don’t admit it to themselves.

So they put the blame on us;

People who refuse to “grow up”.

But, while the rest of the world

Is moving on,

We are the only ones still living.

The world is full of hatred

Angst, woe, fear, hurt, and more

Cartoons have that, yes, but

Within these stories

Of things that might happen today

There are characters and plots

We can talk about, think about, write about,

Relate to, love, draw, and understand fully.

What compels us, and used to compel you, to them?

We are drawn into their world, and they into ours.

For they do live in another world

Beyond ours, living and connecting from different universes.

But, the ones here who believe in them

Are the ones who will never

Go to that world.

Why must good thing’s

Always come to those who don’t deserve them?

Or more importantly, don’t believe?
