Living a lie

I am everyone and anyone you see

The girl at the street corner laughing with her friends

The man at the bus stop tired after a days work

Normal everyday people

People you wouldn’t bat an eyelid at seeing them in the street

But if they seem alright outside what do you know?

The girl with her friends is she just fine?

Inside she could be dying and you would never see it

from mask of the happy laughter that she hides behind

The man at the bus stop tired but happy

You would never know

The emotions that roiled and twisted within

The pain the hurt or angry or many other things

People hide behind facades of seeming happiness or joy

When really hearts are bleeding deep within

And so next time you see them

Just standing there alone

Give a smile a wave maybe say hello

Show a bit of kindness

So they know they’re not alone

Sometimes a word a wave a smile

Can touch a heart

Show they are cared for.
