Things left undone,
Words left unspoken.
Before you came
I was merely breathing,
Waiting for reality
To come crashing in.
I'm not sure I can be alone,
Don't even want to try.
But, how can I keep you here
When you look beyond me
With eyes shadowed and tired?
Go on, my love, go on
Back to the life you loved,
Familiar faces and open arms.
Won't cry as you turn,
Or sigh when others can hear.
I held you once,
What more can I ask for?
