Secret

The world that I live in

Isn’t pure reality

My life is much more

Than it seems

As children many people have imaginary friends

And possibly imaginary lives

When we reach a certain age

Usually by adolescence

We give it up and come into reality

But sometimes we get lost

Sometimes there is a child who

Cannot return from over the rainbow

No matter how many times they say ‘There’s no place like home.’

But slowly reality blends with imaginary

And becomes routine

Although they hide their secret deep inside

Fearing how other would react

If they knew

Kids today are so cruel

Being lost over the rainbow

Isn’t so bad

I have more friends than anyone knows

There are “people” in class

That only I know about

Home life is strange

I spend hours in my room

Blaring music

And talking to my “friends”

Not on the phone

Or over aim or e-mail

They aren’t my reality friends

Thay’re my invisible imaginary friends

I take them with me

Wherever I go

We have our problems and differences

But they still live with me

And stick by me

Not even my parents know about them

I’m hardly ever lonely

Some people may think it’s weird

But I’m perfectly happy

Being ‘Lost over the rainbow’
