Insomnia

My left hand is warm

Yet the right is cold

My fingers are tired

As insomnia takes hold

I attempt no rest

Before daylight shows face

Eyes that will not shut

Reflect worn out disgrace

My legs retain the numbness

They receive every night

A body shutting down

A mind set in spite

The sun is peaking up

As I lay against my shoulder

I refuse to ever wake

Because I always wake up older.
