First I was a frog,

Eaten by a hawk.

Then I was a finch,

Shot down with a rock.

Next I was a rat,

But a cat got the best of me.

Then I was a crab,

And I got washed out to sea.

I was a dog twice,

Old age was my fate.

I got to be a spider,

But was eaten by my mate.

I was thrilled to be a dolphin,

Until I met a net.

Being a pig was nice,

But I overheated cause I couldn’t sweat.

Life as a tortoise treated me well,

But at my end I was friendless.

For a breath I was a tiger,

Alas, I was born skinless.

I was a great deer,

But I stepped on a grenade.

And as a bear,

I was killed by blade.

Eventually I was human,

And I haven’t died yet.

But of all the lives I’ve had,

This one I most regret.
