AN: Okay. I decided to completely redo this story, because I wasn't liking the way the old one was turning out. It still has the same basic plotline that I wanted. Pirates help Princess. Ta-da! However, I was unhappy with the way I wrote the story before, so I decided to upload a different idea with the same basic outline. I think this one has more potential than the other, and I don't think the other EPDC was the best that I can do, writing wise. Sorry to anyone who liked the old one. It is still on my computer, but as of right now it isn't on my priority list. It needs some major editing. So, here's the new and improved version!
Lairea, one of the most powerful kingdoms in all the world, is soon to make room for it’s newest ruler, the young and clever Princess Tatiana Alexis Lairea. Her father, the well-known and adored Christopher Lairea, had fallen ill two short months ago, and the disease had quickly taken him to his grave. Wrought with grief and still unmarried, the Princess was distraught with frustration and fear for ruling her country before her due time. It was unheard of for a queen to rule without a king by her side. She, once she reached the tender age of nineteen, was to ascend to the throne on her birthday in the upcoming month.
Little did she know that a plot was arising to overthrow her before she could fully take control, involving the people she trusted the most. On her birthday, her inauguration, she was to die, and the Kingdom of Lairea would be given to new hands. And if Tatiana didn’t die, she would be hunted down and murdered quietly in the darkness.
Things would have gone smoothly for the insurgence, if Tatiana’s most trusted knight, Gerard von Brendanburg, had not seen the gunman before he could fire his weapon at the celebration that evening. Gerard, in his panic for the new Queen’s safety, tackled her. The action alone caused an uproar, but the crack of the rifle and the bullet bouncing off the silver platter Tatiana had been eating from did more.
Tatiana had to flee the castle, the only home she’d ever known. It seemed everyone had been in on the plot. Her guards tried to keep her from leaving. The gates to the castle were closed, preventing escape. Tatiana was exhausted, heartbroken, and frustrated.
This is her story.
