Chapter 2: Secret Game

The room was dark, the only illumination coming from the computer screen on the desk in the corner. Pale silver-blue eyes narrowed as slender hands flew across the keyboard. Beeping of the computer and the clacking of the keys were the only sound in the room.

“Damn…” Tenkou murmured. “Magami will want to know about this…”

There was the sound of a door opening and closing, and the computer beeped softly, the screen casting a soft glow in the darkened room…

Natsume leaned over Hoshiakari’s shoulder to study the information on the computer screen. Gold-green eyes widened in shock then narrowed.

“Mycenae?” she murmured. “Why would the Lyn’xys create an aphrodisiac?” she paused and added, “Come to think of it, why did they name it for a Precursor Civilization from before the Ancients’ from Terra Genesis?”

A wry smile crossed Hoshiakari’s face. “You know the Lyn’xys. Genealogy is the most important thing to them, and they’re convinced that their oldest bloodlines date back to the time of the Precursors. Anyway, Mycenae is no ordinary aphrodisiac,” she said, “Its effects can only be nullified by the chemicals released by the brain during mating. Other wise, it causes hallucinations, and eventually, insanity. The basic description of Mycenae would be, to put it bluntly, fuck or go insane.”

“What?!” Natsume’s face was a mask of incredulity. “There’s no ethical use for that sort of aphrodisiac!”

“Unless it is used for intimidation purposes, but they would have to administer the drug to someone first, and let others view the results. Either way, it’s hardly an ethical use for an aphrodisiac. Better dead than insane, better insane than to rape someone just to purge your body of the drug. If there is someone with that sort of mindset, Mycenae would definitely serve as a powerful intimidation tool.”

Natsume closed her eyes and rubbed the bridge of her nose. “We can’t let that drug get circulated. So far it’s staying at the Vesuvian base since it’s still in the testing stage. We have to destroy the base along with everything and everyone inside, even the prisoners.”

Hoshiakari nodded and opened a program and began typing. “I’ll let Kyuu know about this, and once we get affirmation, we’ll get moving.”

Natsume nodded. “Fine.” She walked to the door. “In the meantime, I’m going to feed. You know where to find me if you need me.”

“Right,” Hoshiakari said, her eyes fixed to the computer screen.

Black eyes studied the computer screen, and glanced over her shoulder. “Hey, Kyuu,” she said softly, “Tenko’s found something.”

A slender figure in pale blue kimono walked to stand behind the girl clad in black, her waist length hair flowing gently over her shoulders. “It seems, Hoshi, that the missions are coming in faster than ever. I worry for them, isn’t it about time for exams? They will never get high enough scores to enter a good school at this rate.”

“Eh! Why are you so worried about exams? This is big!”

“There is nothing more important than exams!” Kyuu said, “You need to be more understanding of such things, Hoshi. Tenko and Magami are still twelve! Their future lies not in constant battle, but in their exams! If they don’t do well, they will never survive in this competitive world!”

Hoshi blinked. “Gee, for such a traditional person, you sure are dedicated to the modern ideals.”

Kyuu glared. “Let the girls know that we’ll take care of it. They are to concentrate on the exams if they want to get into a good school.”

“You do realize that Magami is older than any of us, right?” Hoshi said, “She could take care of Tenko if it came down to it. She certainly has the resources to do so.”

Kyuu’s glare intensified, her red eyes flashing. “No! Tenko cannot live off of Magami forever! Magami is all but immortal, imagine how she would feel watching her dearest friend age and die before her very eyes when she will stay ever young, and can only leave this existence by turning her curse to another?” A slender hand came up to grip the neck of the kimono, as a single tear slid down pale cheeks. “Magami may be a creature of darkness, but she has a kind heart. She wouldn’t be able to bring herself to condemn someone else to that sort of life!”

Hoshi blinked, and her eyes softened. “That’s right, you’re also an immortal aren’t you?” She turned back to the computer. “Alright. I’ll let them know that we’ll take care of this.”

What!?”

Hush. You know you need to take your exams. Don’t worry about it. Hoshi and I will take care of it.”

But, Kyuu! I’ve been alive for over three thousand years! I have more than enough resources to live for twenty generations without having to work!”

No, Magami. Regardless of the wealth you’ve accumulated over the years, its best to keep busy. In any case, Hiyohime has not tasted blood since the Meiji Era back in Terra Genesis. Trust in me, old friend.”

As you wish.”

Hoshiakari picked up the phone and said distractedly, “Yes?”

I just received word from Kyuu. They’ll take care of the Mycenae problem.”

“Eeeehhhhhh! But it’s so close to our area!”

I know, but Kyuu wants us to concentrate on the exams.”

“But there are no exams at this time!”

Exams start at Daymonth’s end.”

“That’s not for another Terran month!”

Nevertheless, they’ve decided. In the meantime, we continue as we have, and we’ll receive our next mission later.”

“Fine.” She set the phone down and her fingers flew swiftly over the keyboard.

The club’s dance floor was a mass of writhing scantily clad bodies dressed in various shades of black and red. A dark haired girl sat in a shadowed corner, dark eyes scanning through the crowd, searching out the perfect prey. Clad in a black tube top and a dark grey denim mini skirt hemmed in a rich burgundy and black stilettos, she blended into the normal patronage at the club with ease, it was only the fact that she was alone and sitting calmly in a shadowed corner that set her apart.

Then she spotted him. His spiky silver hair glowed dimly in the lights of the club, and he was dressed in a forest green wifebeater and black slacks that fit him well, and showed off his toned and beautifully tan body. His dark eyes were cool and intelligent, and the eye patch over his left eye did nothing to hide the scar that ran from his hairline to his cheekbone. That he was extremely attractive was also a plus.

The Huntress licked her lips, and stood up, and reached out with a tendril of power, and allowed it to wash over her chosen prey. His sole visible eye glazed over and he stood up, muttering some excuse to his friends and made his way through the crowds. The Huntress circled the perimeter of the room and smiled as he followed her obediently toward an out of the way staircase hidden in the shadows.

“And what is your name?” she whispered sensually into his ear as he wrapped one arm around her waist, and slipped the other hand down her top

“Kakashi,” he answered obediently.

“Oh?” she murmured, “So you were named for a character from an old graphic novel that the Ancients were particularly fond of, I see…” She pulled his head down for a kiss and nibbled gently on his lower lip. “That just makes me desire you even more…” she whispered when they pulled apart.

She took Kakashi’s hand and led him up the stairs, past several soundproofed rooms, and slid a keycard through the slot next to the door with a dark 7 painted on it. The soundproofed titanium alloy door slid open, and she took the man’s hand and led him into the room. The door slid shut behind them as she captured his lips once more.

The Huntress lost her tube top and her skirt had been hiked up around her waist half way through the room, and Kakashi had lost his wifebeater and the zipper and buttons on his slacks had been undone. By the time they reached the bed, both were naked, and the Huntress was eyeing her prey with satisfaction. He was beautiful, it was a pity though, that he would never know her…

They tumbled onto the bed together, and their mouths came together in sloppy open mouthed kisses even as their hands roamed over each others’ bodies. She gasped as Kakashi pressed a hand between her legs and he trailed feather light kisses along her neck. As he slipped a finger into her, he took a pert nipple into his mouth, sucking and licking at it while his free hand stroked, rubbed and pulled lightly at her other nipple. She moaned and curled her fingers in his hair as he slipped another finger inside her and wiggled them, stretching her, and he left her nipples to claim another kiss from sweet, succulent red lips, and then pulled his fingers out and sheathed himself inside of her velvet warmth. They moved together, their slick bodies slipping and sliding against each other, and the room was quiet but for the sounds of their lovemaking. She could feel it, her time was coming, even as the tight ball in her belly coiled and knotted itself tighter and tighter, and she cried out in pleasure as he came inside of her with a shout and released his load inside her.

He lowered himself over her, and she reached up and tilted his head to the side and licked his neck, and kissed the junction where his neck met his shoulder, and then bit down. Kakashi groaned as pleasure overtook him a second time, this time from a vampire’s bite rather than from lovemaking, and as the haze over his senses thickened, he stilled. The Huntress lay there, her lips attached to Kakashi’s neck as she sipped his life’s blood from his body. Once she had drunk enough, she pulled her fangs from his flesh and healed the puncture marks with a leisurely lick. It took some careful maneuvering, and she got him off her, and she pulled the covers over him. He might have been prey, but she would not want him to become hypothermic because of her.

She dressed swiftly and wordlessly left the room. She knocked three times at the door with the number 00 and left. She could hear the door open as she made her way down the stairs, and knew that the medics would be checking the man over to make sure that there was little to no damage left from her feeding. She dropped off the key card at the bartender’s table and paid him for the room, and left.

Natsume wandered into her dormitory around four in the morning, and stripped out of her club clothes and took a quick shower. Once clean of the smell of sex and blood, she put on a grey pleated skirt and white sleeveless dress shirt under a baby blue vest with the letters CSA on the breast pocket. A black ribbon was threaded under the collar of the dress shirt and swiftly tied in a bow and the ends falling down over the vest. She put on black knee socks and the black mary-janes and scowled at her reflection.

“Nine thousand years, and I still have to attend school because I was changed as a teen,” she snarled, “Whomever designed this uniform is so lucky they’re dead, otherwise, I’d drain them dry.”

She sighed and sat down at her desk, pulling her school books toward her…

Kyuu watched impassively as the base disappeared in a massive fireball. The resulting shockwave made the long sleeves of her kimono and her unbound hair flutter and flap in the shockwave. She lifted a hand to the side of her head, giving the impression of keeping her hair out of her face, and discretely pressed her hand against the communicator in her ear.

“This is Kyuu,” she said, “Target has been neutralized.”

The communicator crackled, and Hoshi’s voice came through, “Roger that. Return to home base for debriefing.

“Roger that,” Kyuu said, “Kyuu out.” And she lowered her hand and walked away.
