White Oleander
In silence, offer a passing prayer
From white-framed, pain-stained eyes
Opened like petals
Spotlights of sweet poison
They knew, the men
As they drank you in, they knew
A flash of violet and grey
And then you laughed
Breaking glass and opened petals
Spin your threads
Tighter
Open your silky petals for them
Breathe your pretty words
Into waiting ears
In silence, offer a passing prayer
They breathed sweet perfume
And how could they know?
A single taste of you
They fell into your open petals
Twist your threads
Tighter
Hold them down
Give them a single drop
Of your sweet poison
Twist around them
Your shattered laughter
From silver, pain-stained eyes
But spin your threads
Tighter,
White Oleander,
Offer a passing prayer
To victims past
Nameless,
Faceless,
Breathe into their waiting ears
One tantalizing drop
Of your sweet poison
Twist your threads
Tighter,
When they fall with
Drops of your poisoned wine
On their lips
Offer up
One,
Passing,
Prayer.

For our golden dancer
