Honey, let’s dance in the rain.
x
I have heard the thunder, crashing,
Seen that blinding lightning, flashing
Felt the sharp staccato rhythm
of raindrops in the wind
And I was terrified when I
first saw a storm roll in.
x
I have seen the blue sky graying,
seen even strongest branches swaying,
felt the earth go wet and limp
beneath me as I stood
And I was terrified ‘cause I
thought strong winds brought no good.
x
Now I’m standing near the window gazing,
Watching clear air slowly hazing,
Seeing those dark storm clouds
casting shadows on the ground,
And now, it does not scare me.
Honey, this is what I’ve found. . .
x
I see the clouds that threaten rain
- but I’ve seen them all before.
I still hear the thunder sounding,
the never-ceasing rain a-pounding,
still see lightning - its abounding,
but I see something more.
I see puddles, in the street,
drops awaiting happy feet,
I can see the shades of silver
within that darkest cloud
and the crashing of the thunder
doesn’t seem so loud.
x
Honey, I was there when this storm was rolling in,
and no longer do I fear those ever-howling winds.
So until the sun shines,
until it’s clear again,
honey, let’s dance in the rain.
