Shelves after shelves

of books upon books

stacked in crannies,

stored in nooks,

binding and covers,

and dog-eared pages,

new releases,

and wisdom of the ages..

x

But what I want more than anything,

any book upon this shelf,

is a published how-to guide,

for this life itself.

To show me how to live,

in simple black and white.

To let Times New Roman text define

what’s wrong, what is right.

To teach me how to make it through

each and every day,

So I can learn which path to take,

so I can find my way.

x

I crave the pure simplicity

this how-to guide would give.

But no trials and no errors...

means no true chance to live.

I’ll be content with new releases,

and wisdom of the ages,

until experience creates my own life’s guide,

and pens my own life’s pages.

x
