“Puella Silvae” by Ben Rude

Chapter I:

Benus puer est. Benus in silvam ambulat. Solus est sed non sollicita. In silva, lupus conspicit puerum est furtim appropinquat. Benus conspicit lupum et non perterritus est. Benus ramum arripit et lupum repellit. Subito, puella descendet ex arborem, “Salvae sumus.”

“Et esne?”

“Puella sum, nomine Julia, quod in silva habitat.”

“Non habitasne in villa rustica?”

“Ita vero. Esne?”

“Puer sum, nomine Benus.”

The Girl of the Forest

Benus is a boy. Benus walks into the forest. He is alone, but is not worried. In the forest a wolf catches sight of the boy and approaches stealthily. Benus catches sight of the work and is not frightened. Benus grabs hold of a branch and drives off the wolf. Suddenly a girl climbs out of a tree, “We are safe.”

“And you are?”

“I am a girl, called Julia, that lives in the forest.”

“You do not live in a county house and farm?”

“Yes. You are?”

“I am a boy, called Benus.”
