And when the shadows came to pass
Over death a veil did cast
And sleeping still, the earthly lust
Did violate love beyond trust
But with a sigh and beating heart
The spider spins her noble art
To catch a fly, to sting and kill
But never awake the sleeping still
For in the depths of mildest dream
A peaceful rest or so it seems
Does fall upon the weary soul
But peaceful rest does take its toll
For spider spinning deadly trap
The threads crossing, as roads on map
Can catch and sting, the unseeing eye
And whisper softly honest lie
The vampiric fangs, with venom armed
Can sting and kill the unalarmed
And silent death does tell no tales
The eerie screams, or windy wails
Cannot see what lies ahead
For the living, dying, nor dead
