"As you all know, Demon Child has struck again. There are more bodies than strewn across the city but not just one. There are more cities as well who have encountered this serial killer. In everyone place, Demon Child has left a message. A woman who was pregnant was found in an alley last night with words carved into her stomach. Unfortunately, neither her or the baby lived. Carved in the woman's stomach were these words: 'Speak No Evil'. Her tongue was found beside her body. Another man killed had his ears cut off with the words 'Hear No Evil' and another had the words 'See No Evil'. You can imagine what was removed from this person. More bodies were found with messages, one saying 'I am evil'. No pictures of the victims will be shown to the public for they are too gruesome. Lock your doors and if you know anything about this murderer, contact the police immediately. I'm Cynthia Combs and will return tonight with more news."

Mia's mother turned the television off, gasping in horror. Her face was pale. "Oh my God," she whispered, hand covering her mouth.

Mia, who sat beside her mother on the couch, nearly winced. Now that she was a demon, and had spoken to Satan when she awoke, God's name wouldn't be a nice thing to hear. Something had the devil angry though and Mia wondered what was going on but he wouldn't tell her anything except to ignore anything she hears in her head and continue the mission.

"Are you sure you're OK to go to school, honey?" Mia's dad asked, concern and fear on his face.

"I think it'll be good for me," Mia said, softly. "You know, get my mind off things. If there's any trouble I'll call you. Promise."

"Alright," Mia's mom said, nodding then traced her daughter's face with her fingers. "I'll call the optometrist today after work to make an appointment. I don't know what they did to your beautiful eyes but we'll find out."

Yeah, right, Mia thought. Out loud, she said, "Good. It makes me nervous when I look in the mirror." She stood and smoothed her black mini skirt and straightened her red v-neck t-shirt. Her red heels were one inch high. It wasn't something she'd normally wear but that, along with everything else about her, has changed. Her hair was loose. Picking up her purse and book bag, she spoke. "I'll see you after school, Dad." She kissed his cheek and followed her mother out the door to the car.

Silence was heavy in the car. Mia could care less but her mother was biting her nails nervously. "Mom, it's OK. I'm OK," Mia assured her. "The police will find this murderer." In her mind, she scoffed at the idea. "Everything will go back to the way it was."

Her mom smiled gently and took her daughter's hand. "You're always so strong, sweetie."

Mia smiled back. Her mother pulled up in front of the school. "See ya," Mia said and got out of the car. As she walked into the school, a satisfied smirk crossed her face as she got whistles from the boys. When she got to her locker, she stuffed her book bag inside after removing the books she needed for the next couple periods.

Familiar hands encircled her waist. "I missed you," a deep voice said from behind her. Mia turned to see Eric Townsend, her boyfriend. He wasn't as good looking as Drake but was still hot. Brown hair was cut short, heart stopping brown eyes, a nice body and killer smile.

"I know," Mia purred, running a finger over his lips.

"I didn't know you died your hair black," Eric said, running a hand through the curls. "And what happened to your eyes?"

"Contacts," she said automatically. "I died my hair at Kayla's last night and the contacts are just a joke."

"You usually don't wear this kind of stuff, either," he mused, gaze roaming hungrily over her.

"Change is good sometimes," she repeated her words from last night. When Eric leaned down to kiss her, she stopped him. "Speaking of change, there's something we need to discuss."

Confusion clouded his eyes. "What?"

Mia spotted Drake with his friends. He smirked at her. She smiled evilly at Eric then removed herself from his grasp quite rudely before shutting her locker and walking sensually to Drake. He looked a little surprise as if he hadn't expected her to actually go through with it. A satisfied smirk played on his lips as Mia wrapped her free arm around his waist, staring at Eric. Drake draped an arm around Mia's shoulders.

"We're over," she stated simply with no emotion but smugness. Some kids in the hallway stopped to watch the scene.

Eric gaped, a look of hurt crossing his face. "Are you serious? You're dumping me for this loser? He's trash!"

"Then why are you the one being thrown out?" Drake asked, satisfied.

Eric bawled his fists in rage. "I love you. I thought you loved me."

"You know what they say," Mia said, shrugging. "Love hurts." In an instant, she grabbed the back of Drake's neck to pull him down for a deep kiss right in front of Eric. They were both breathless by the time they pulled apart. Mia's lips were swollen. She glanced back at Eric. He had tears in his eyes. "Oh, what's wrong? You really thought I loved you?" She chuckled. "Find someone else Eric. There are plenty of girls who would love to be with you."

"I want you," he growled.

She narrowed her eyes. "You can't have me." Eric stormed away. People were gaping. Grinning, she looked up at Drake. "So are we official?"

Drake grinned back. "I thought it was obvious."

Mia looked him up and down. "Pick me up tonight." It wasn't a question. She sauntered down the hall to her first period. Kayla sat beside her, gaping.

"Did you seriously break up with Eric for Drake?" she asked, bewildered.

"Yes," Mia said. "And before you protest about it, don't. Drake and I are an item now and nothing anyone says is going to stop it."

Kayla raised a brow. "You're my best friend. I respect your decision but I hope it's the right one."

"Oh, it is."

Through the rest of the day, Mia contemplated what to do tonight after having some fun with Drake. She had ditched her friends at lunch, including Kayla, to sit with him. The whole school was buzzing about this mornings ordeal. During seventh period, Mia started hearing that whispering again. Getting annoyed, she raised her hand.

"Yes, Miss Cambell," Mr. Robbins, the teacher, said.

"I need to use the bathroom," she said, smiling sweetly.

"Go ahead," he said, a little impatiently.

As Mia walked out of the room with her purse, she glared at Mr. Robbins. "It's not a crime to use the bathroom, you know." But everything else she's done was certainly a crime.

Her heels clicked the hard floor as she walked into the bathroom. No one was in there. She stared at herself in the mirror. "Get out of my head," she demanded to the voice. Her reflection started to swirl, colors colliding with one another. Mia stared curiously at the mirror as Satan's image replaced hers. "I didn't know you could do that," she said, placing her hands on the sink. The pentagram mirror, as Satan called it earlier, he had originally given her was in her purse.

"I can do many things," he said, still angry. "I know that voice is still bothering you. Just keep ignoring it. Eventually, it will go away. I hope." His black orbs were irritated and narrowed.

"What is going on?" Mia demanded.

"Do not worry about it," Satan snapped viciously. "Do as you are told!"

"Don't yell at me because something is wrong," Mia muttered. "It's not my fault."

"I do not care whose fault it is!" Satan yelled.

"Shh!"

Satan's eyes widened. "Do not 'shh' me, little demon!"

"Yell any louder and everyone will know!"

He sighed. "I have something to take care of. Keep doing everything you would by day so no one is suspicious but at night, you know where your place is."

"I know," Mia said, submissively. She smiled. "I have something planned later on in the week. I believe you'll love it."

Satan gave a canary eating grin. "I think I will, as well. Go now. Someone is coming." The devil in the mirror swirled and disappeared, leaving Mia to stare at herself. She shrugged but was irritable that Satan wouldn't tell her what was going on. A girl walked into the bathroom and balked at the sight of Mia. "Problem?" Mia asked, snottily then picked up her purse and shoved the girl out of her way. "Stay out of my way."

Something about Mia frightened the girl so she didn't talk back.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"God!" Satan cried in outrage.

"What is it now, Lucifer?" God's voice asked, always patient and calm. "If it is about the girl, which I know it is, then you are wasting your breath."

"Leave her alone!" Satan screamed. "She is mine, not Yours! Stop interfering!"

God's tone was commanding as He said, "Remember your place, Lucifer! You do not tell Me what to do! I am not one of your demons or followers! You forget who created the shell your demon's soul rests in! If not for Me, you would not have her in the first place! I created all humans, including you! Remember your place!"

"How could I forget my place?" Lucifer shouted. "You always remind me where the line is!"

"Then stop crossing it! The Apocalypse is not your decision."

"But the demon girl is," Satan growled. "Leave this place."

"I created this place for you, Lucifer. I can take that away if I wish it." And He was gone. Satan sat heavily on his throne. He hoped Mia would not answer God's calling.

If she did, it would mean the end of his planning.
