We’re watching a movie.

We’re all watching the same movie, and we’re all laughing at it and I’m worrying a little less about how to act in front of them.

No one’s fighting, at least not for real, and I don’t feel as hesitant when I open my mouth to talk.

I suddenly realize that I’m getting past that point of awkward acquaintanceship, where you’re still experimenting with people, seeing how best to get along. I wonder where they are in relation to us on that same scale…

They’ll be moving closer soon. I think I’m going to miss these weekends a little…

More than a little.

But at least when they move, things will be easier. We might see each other more, might see each other less often, but at least we’ll live closer together. At least when they move, one of the boys will be at my school. Same grade. I hope I get a couple classes with him…

I look around… I try not to blink too much, because I want to take it all in.

I don’t want to get up. I don’t want to leave this room.

I’m happy here.
