In The Tides

Sure, you may have spikes or spots you're not content with, and your fins might be ragged from abuse, pain, and near escapes from danger. You may look around at all these other so-called "beauties of the sea," and think to yourself, "Why can't I have that? Why do I have to be scarred? Why do the males like them best?" But you have to remember that there's an entire ocean outside of that little tidal pool of a world you live in. You are just a tiny part of the smallest microcosm of the bigger picture. You may not be accepted or revered by others for being beautiful or creative or anything else here, and the simplicity of it is that all you have to do is take a chance. Take the chance of the plunge into uncharted waters. Take the chance of jumping out of your boundaries. Take the chance of injuring yourself in the process of landing in a new pool. Too cautious, aren't we? The fact of the matter is that most of us will just have to wait with the utmost patience for the right fish to be carried by the white foam of the sea waves into the shallow salted waters of our little pool.
