Barefoot by Ryan Schiff

A teacher saw his favorite student walking outside one day. The favorite student was holding his sandals in his hands and walking barefoot on the moist, rocky path. "Why are you walking barefoot?" asked the professor. "You could easily just put your sandals on and protect your feet from being hurt by the hard earth."

"This does not hurt my feet. These sandals are old and warn out, they would hurt my feet to wear them," answered the student.

The student and the teacher walked on a bit further, until the rain started up again. The teacher opened an umbrella, but the student kept walking, holding his sandals. "You will have to put your sandals on now!" said the teacher. "Otherwise, your feet will be wet."

"I came dressed for warm weather," said the student. "If my feet get wet, so will my head and arms and legs be wet as well. When my entire body is wet, why should I care about my feet?"
