Broken Wings

By candlekitty

Feel the warm breeze upon your cheek,

And look at all the pretty blooms.

Listen to the birds’ sweet chirping,

And revel in this tranquil scene.

But amongst the trees,

You catch a glimpse,

Of a weeping angel

With broken wings.

She cannot fly,

She cannot sing,

She can never again

Reach her dreams.

The breeze turns cold,

The flowers wilt,

The birds fly north,

To escape this chill.

You wonder why,

You wonder how,

Life became

The way it is now.

But it’s too late,

The angel’s hurt.

She’s broken winged,

And all alone.

The sky turns gray,

Thunder rolls,

Lightning flashes,

And the storm commences.

Tears of despair begin to fall,

Screams of pain begin to ring,

You pray for someone to hear these calls,

But the storm just masks it all.

The angel’s glow

Begins to fade,

To you it seems

That the world is dead.

And now it’s time

To say goodbye.

You know that broken wings

Will never fly again.
