I woke up this morning;
Opted to change my mind.
Decided I don’t love you,
Wiped your memory from my mind.

Thinking back on all that’s happened,
It’s clear what truly occurred.
Truthfully, I never loved you,
Just the idea that you were mine.

I loved the thought of you loving me;
The thought of you loving her.
So when it came to me loving you,
It seems the well was dry.

I even don’t miss you;
Even when you consume my thoughts.
I know you don’t miss me;
We’ve grown so apart.

But we never did grow together;
We never grew at all.
We’ll blame me like we always do;
It’s my fault for everything else.

I don’t regret what I’ve done.
I don’t believe in regret.
I wish things could’ve been different;
But I’ll never forget.

So when we say goodbye.
Promise me just one thing:
That you’ll never forget me,
Good and even bad things always.
