“Nightmare”

By: Robert McAlister

What do you feel

When the lights turn off

You are open to attack

Nightmares are strong and rule?

I feel a shiver

I slowly quiver

As my mind does feel a cold hand

Grasping me tightly and then

Dragging me away

Marking my forehead

Masking my reality

Into my nightmares again.

What do you fear more

Reality or fantasy

Or when they clash together?

Now tell me.

Oh fearful one

Have you ever been afraid?

Do you think that you are brave?

Then I’ll show you scary

I’ll show you a nightmare

So deeply haunting

You cannot face your fears

That we never wish to meet.

This will be what I always feared

I would never of done it asleep or alone.

I will always awake

But the wakes up to

And you feel pain

You bleed in your brain

Awake or asleep

Neither will be the same.

And when the story get to scary

In the nightmare from which

You cannot wake up

You will be marked

To later be claimed

By the monsters when a child is young

As they’ve done before.

They claim them when they’re older

As 10,000 times they’ve done before.
