You left us alone

You know

A family you left behind

A broken past

A broken faith

A broken child

Broken family

Broken children with their

Broken father

She prays for you

You know

A broken sister

Thinks that she had just smashed against

The sharp blades of a cruel religion

Until she cries

With the ecstasy

I do not believe that

You left us

You left me

I do not know you

I have never met you

But I am still broken

I do not know

What would have happened

But maybe there would not now be

This broken family

This broken child

This broken child of a child

Maybe you would have lifted me in your arms

And taught me how to fly

Maybe in turn I could have taught you something

Taught you to except and forgive

And maybe you could have taught the broken father

He is not broken now

He has healed

But she hasn’t

She hasn’t

And neither have I

I am broken

Would you heal me

If you could?

Would you heal us

Would you heal this broken heart of mine?

This broken spirit

This broken past?

Come back

Oh please

Come back

And heal

This broken world.
