The Colorful Sea

Twisted branches of the tall oak tree

Warm rays of sunshine spilling down in halos

Fuzzy green moss from recent rains

Sturdy oak behind my back

Puddles of leaves

Collected with care

On the sidewalk and the ground

Squawks of the lonely bird

Nesting in the trees

Whining with the falling leaves

The colorful sea

Rippling wondrously

And gorgeously

Green shafts of grass

Poking through anxiously

Though their season is ended

Twisted knobs of bark

Fragile frail leaves

Warm earth between my fingers

Chilling wind rippling

The colorful sea

Sending crackles flowing all around

The rain begins

Beautiful crisp yellow raindrops

Falling lightly in the sea

Orange wide-breath leaves

Hanging loosely to the branch

Like sweet cherry blossoms

The silence of the day

Almost overwhelming

As I sit here alone

So many colors surround me

Burnt orange, goldenrod yellow

Honey brown, bloody scarlet

The wind whispers once more

Arousing more raindrops

To fall into

The colorful sea
