A Reflection
A shadow – a reflection – an echo –;
All three lost in a glimpse.
They bring about a tide of emotions,
A wave of interpretations.
But a shadow – a reflection – an echo –
Mean nothing in the world.
- - -
To gaze upon the waters
And peer at the image staring back –
Does anybody find it pleasing?
Only our friend Narcissus,
Who taunted dearest Echo into existence.
- - -
To see the mirror and to be seen back,
Is there no better way to pass our time?
How do we see what others have seen
If some are told black and white,
And others taught about grays?
- - -
The mind distorts the real world –
Ah, the illusions are so much more fair!
To look into the eyes that hold so much
And be able to only fathom a little
Of what other perceive;
Tell me, is that what you want to believe?
Tell me, does that make one happy?
