starry night soliloquy
“it’s like a line from one of the most beautiful poems
that I’ve never read,” she said
as he pulled her hair back off of her tear-streaked face
he said, “love is something you can’t replace”
as she buried herself in his arms,
he promised to protect her from harm
as he held her close, as to never let her go

and the whole world wept a tender storm
of passion and the unwillingness to conform
“it’s like a line from one of the most beautiful poems
that I’ve never read,” she said
