I’m nothing to you

Worse than nothing,

I’m the dirt below your feet.

I’m the person who was in your class this morning

Trying to work up the courage to say the simple words

“Good Luck”

But you zipped out of class

To wish her good luck.

I’m the person who was in the same room as you

Studying, trying to get your attention

Did you see me? I doubt you did.

You were too busy

Looking at her.

I’m the person who longs for you

For your attention

For your touch

It hurts whenever your name is mentioned

Whenever you’re in my sight

Anywhere you’ve ever been.

If I suddenly vanished

Would you even notice I was gone?

Would you care?
