I Know

You can leave behind the tears you cried;

there's nothing left you haven't tried.

You can forget about your racing heart,

and learn to stop before you start.

I know that he still feels like home;

that the music reminds you you're all alone.

But you hear the notes inside your head,

when you're sleeping in your lonely bed.

It’s harder to breathe in winter than spring,

I know that, to you, he was everything.

I’m sure you still love him, despite the all lies,

that each time you see him, you die inside.

I know that heartbreak is exquisite pain,

and it makes you feel alive again.

If we weren’t fragile we wouldn’t be real,

the beauty of life is that we’re able to feel.

The realization is a blinding light,

echoing in this endless night:

He never felt the same as you,

and this will all be over soon.
