Quotes
I heard once
(-It was a quote
From a story
That I can’t remember the name of,
Although I’ve tried)
That “There is no such thing as hate,
There is only disappointed love.”
At the time I thought it profound.
“Life changeingly (if that is a word) clever”
(-A review, from a newspaper,
Which one? I forget)
I remember nodding and thinking,
“Yeah that works for me,
I get that.”
(-A friend, when I later repeated the quote,
Don’t ask me their name,
I couldn’t honestly tell you who it was).
Now I look back and think,
“BULLSHIT”
(-This I got from some film,
Some male character or other,
They’re all the same really).
And I cried,
(“For my corned beef sandwich,
And for genocide”
A poem I studied at one time...
Or another,
It doesn’t make a difference).
Now I don’t bother quoting it anymore,
Because I know that I hate you,
And you probably hate me
(“Hate me today”
- A song, it’s catchy
But not enough that I caught the title)
I loved,
I was disappointed,
And I hate you,
I hate me,
And I can honestly say,
That maybe even thought the names aren’t there,
There’s still those words hanging between us,
And forever surrounded by
What other people say,
Cornered by those little marks…
