It felt weird to be back at school after so long... I looked around; it was still the same people just older.

“Paige?” I turned to face a Goth girl, mouth covered in black lipstick, eyes also black.

“Hey Mary,” I said. “Long time no see.”

“How have you been for the past two years, girl?” she asked me.

“It was hard,” I admitted. “But it’s better now.”

“You off those drugs for good now?” she asked me.

I gave a sad smile; “Just onto different ones.”

She nodded, understanding, “Look I gotta find Chase, you remember him, right?”

“Yea,” I said.

“Well we’ve been going out for about a year now,” she said.

“Cool,” I said.

“Well... I’ll see you,” she said uncertainly, but I knew I wouldn’t. I didn’t belong in her crowd anymore. My parents had thrown out all of my old clothes in hope of curing me; I was dressed in a red tee and jeans. My hair was blond again and I didn’t own a single article of black clothing.

I made my way to the office and picked up my schedule, I had English first and it started in five minutes. I headed towards the room; it was my old math classroom.

The bell rang just as I got into class; I looked around the room for an empty seat. It was the first day of school, but already everyone seemed to be paired up.

The only empty seat left was next to a boy with dyed black hair that fell across his face so that you could only see one brown eye with the eyebrow pierced, a nose and a pout-y mouth the lip pierced on the side.

Never being one to back down from a challenge, I walked over and sat down, but didn’t bother to say hi.

“No one sits there,” he growled.

I suppressed the urge to say “tough” and smiled, instead; “Sorry, but there’s no other empty seats.”

He just growled and looked ahead of him.

Had I really used to be that unpleasant?

I looked ahead of me as well and the teacher got up to make the first day of school announcements.

“Well,” he said smiling. “This is pretty much the exact same class as we had last year, so congratulations for all making honors English again.”

The boy beside me snorted unattractively.

Great, I was the only new person, I thought.

“So I would like to welcome our new student, Miss Burnet! Would you please come introduce yourself to the class?”

I sighed and got up to the front of the class.

I stuck my hands in my pockets and introduced myself.

“Hey, I’m Paige Burnet... but just call me Paige. I was here two years ago, but I’ve been having a private education for the last bit,” I lied. “So yea, I’ll try to catch up to the rest of you,” I said giving the class the thumbs up and I went back to my seat.

A ripple of whispers ran through the class.

“Paige Burnet?”

“The druggie?”

“That’s her?”

“She’s blond?”

“You got to be kidding me.”

I sighed and sat down staring ahead of me, ignoring the stares and trying not to look sulky.

“So what’s your name?” I asked the guy beside me. I used to hang out with all the Goths, but didn’t recognize him.

He just ignored me.

“Excuse me,” I said. “What’s your name?”

“Jay Stroud,” he said, not even looking at me.

“I don’t remember you,” I said.

“Well I don’t remember you either,” he said in a stupid voice.

Fine, I said mentally and crossed my arms in front of my chest, staring out ahead of me.

AN: this is my little lust story, it’s actually done, I wrote it while trying to get rid of writers block, I like it. It’s very different form other things I’ve written. I’ve discovered that there is something impossibly alluring about short-chaptered, fast-paced stories, so I decided to write one. Also, my stories are usually about love, so I tried some lust, something that I’ve never shown an interest in, but now I find is really quiet amusing to write. So hope you all enjoy.

Annie
