She stumbled along

The darkened alley way

From a back entrance

Of a gay bar.

There was a man

Standing beside her

Begging for approval

Telling her

That he’d protect her

Through all times-

Good and bad.

She smiled gently

And whispered in his ear

“Turn into a girl.”
