Razor Blades
Sharp, cold steel
Drags across soft, pale skin
Penetrating it ever so lightly
To reveal crimson liquid
As it bleeds,
The sharp metal
Is being dragged across skin again,
Only harder,
Inflicting more pain
But somehow relieving
The depression and agony inside
As I wash the blood from the steel
And stop the bleeding
I stare at the new scars on my arm
The stinging pain brings me comfort
But also frightens me
Why have I done this?
The cruelty of others, love, and perhaps just life
Bring such unbearable pain and suffering
I’m reduced to something as precarious
As razor blades
Sharp, cold steel
Drags across soft, pale skin
Erasing some of the agony
I feel only little pain
Compared to the relentless suffering
I’ll just treat the wounds and cover them
For I hope to never have to revisit
The relief of
My beautiful
Razor Blades.
