Chapter 1
The Surprise
The morning sun rose up from behind the horizon in Eclypse City, its bright vibrant light silhouettes in a window as if saying 'Good Morning.' Its warm embrace wraps around Ryou BloodSage as she slowly awakens from her sleep. Her bright eyes adorned with silver-icy-blue opened up slowly to the morning sun. Her long blue hair the reached past her ankles lied peacefully on the pillow in her toddler bed.
Her anime childish eyes scanned her bedroom silently and kept her black velvety kitten ears perked and alert for sounds. The two-year-old child suddenly hears something. Voices, whispering, coming from downstairs from inside the house where she was born; her father's house. Ryou sat up straight and hopped out of her small bed in her black nightgown. Was it her father? Was it another woman trying to steal her father away again? No, it didn't sound like that.
Ryou walked to her door warily, she held out her tiny hand to reach the crystal looking doorknob. Just as soon as she went to open the door it opened. A figure of a manly silhouette stood before her, he moved towards her and stepped into the vibrant sunshine inside her room. Corey.
Corey smiled and kneeled down to his small daughter and stroked her cheek whispering gently to her, "Good morning, Princess," he picked her up in his strong arms and nuzzled her, "I have a surprise for you, hon."
Ryou smiled a surprise for her? She had not heard those words in a long time. She wondered what he could've gotten her and thought about what occasion it could be. As Corey carried her downstairs to the family room she looked around for her surprise.
Corey set her down on the ground to let her stand.
To Ryou's surprise she looked up at a stranger before, teller than her. The stranger looked like the age to be sixteen, brown hair that was razor cut and shaggy, with brown long bangs fringed over his left eye. He smiled sweetly at her, "Hello there, sweetie," he greeted her with a soft and caring voice. He was wearing a long black shirt with baggy black jeans with black sneakers.
Ryou stayed closely to Corey not knowing how to act or what to do. Corey gave a small laugh and nuzzled her, "He's your older brother, Deylin," he said, "He's adopted, he loves children." Ryou gave a glare at Deylin not liking this brother idea at all. She growled lowly in her throat, sneering at him. Was she no longer special to her father?
Deylin drew closer to his little sister and smiled, "Aren't you a cutie," he said with a gentle voice, but Ryou snapped away from him growling. He frowned and drew away from her, 'Oh no, am I scaring her?' He was confused, yet understanding at the same time. 'Being an only child for so long and discovering an older sibling, yeah you'd be a bit angry. But I want to show her that she'll always be special to Father and I and that she'll always be first no matter what happens, even if it means that I will not be in the family portrait,' Deylin said to himself, 'I want to prove to her I appear a lot more visible in kindness than I appear to be right now.'
He lowered his gaze to Ryou who was now acting as though she as possessed by a demon. Deylin frowned watching her. He glanced at his now father, Corey. He glanced back and gave reassuring smile that everything will be alright, and then glance at his young daughter a worried frown appeared on his face.
Later that afternoon, Ryou was calm and quiet. She was playing on the swings outside on the beautiful vibrant day, Deylin decided to join his new little sister on the swings. He looked at her and smiled, "Are you feeling better now, little one?" he asked gently. Ryou gave a soft little nod in response with her stolid expression.
He sighed and sat on the swing beside her, "I'm sorry this is so confusing for you. I mean no harm to you, honest. I hope you grow to love me just give me a chance, sis. I'll show you that I mean no harm. Tell me, what is your name?"
Ryou glanced at him softly and spoke in a shy tone, "Ryou, sir." Deylin smiled at her kindly, "You have a beautiful name, dear. Just as beautiful as you, where I came from sunny days were just as rare as my presence here in front of you. We didn't get very many sunny days on days like this. Say, why don't we go inside for a while? At least until dinner is over."
Ryou looked up at him once more and smiled softly, "Thank you, kindly." He took her small delicate hand and helped her off the swing; he led her inside their house.
