Chapter 2

Gain My Trust

Ryou was up on the roof of the house late that night. They had an attic with a set of stairs that led to the roof. Ryou gazed up with her gorgeous eyes filled with confusion. Why did her Daddy have to adopt Deylin and what was the purpose? Her mind flooding with questions, and with no answers she felt even more lost than she was confused.

The child lied on he back and kept gazing at the sky. She started to think of the stars up into the midnight blue sky, her eyes dazzled with pleasurable thoughts of relief. "The stars seem so free and so careless," Ryou thought to herself, "If only I could touch the sky and feel how free it really is and the stars, too. They look so pretty, I used to love Daddy coming up here and telling me about Heaven and the stars. Too bad he doesn't do that anymore." Ryou's mind spoke, then quieted down she closed her eyes and turned onto her left side with her back facing the door.

Deylin stood against the doorway watching her with worry in his eyes a sigh escaped his pink lips as he brushed his hair back. Warily, he walked to her and sat himself on the ground by her, but kept his distance. Ryou heard his foot steps and when he sat down, she has very keene senses that can sense or hear things from a far.

Ryou turned her head to face him as her eyes were filled with unborn tears. Deylin could see her eyes filling up with them he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to his side and then nuzzled her. He kissed her cheek.

"Hey, you. Why aren't you in bed?" he asked. Ryou looked up at him and sighed and turned to face him. "I can't sleep," the child said. "Will you sing to me?" she asked. With that, Deylin smiled at her, "Of course."

::::And she felt safe now in this bar in Fairfax,
And from these days I can tell
she can't let go and she can't relax:::

Ryou heard him sing and relaxed in his arms as he sang the song to her. His velvet voice soothing her troubled mind, erasing all the worries she's had for the past few hours, all she could focus on was Deylin, her new older brother.

And she still lives with her mom outside the city

And she's seen her share of Devils in this Angel town::::

Deylin kept her close to him as she fell asleep. He picked her up in his arms and walked back inside down the stairs, he walked into Ryou's room and set her in her little toddler bed and tucked her in.

Deylin sat himself at the edge of her bed and stroked her cheek while she slept, he smiled as she moved slightly to get comfortable. When he was for sure she was asleep now, he leaned over and stroked her cheek again and whispered, "Please, gain my trust, sis. I promise you I'll love you with all my heart. Please trust me." Corey stood against the doorway watching his two children with a smile on his face, he left silently.
