Chapter 3:
Plans
Isobel opened the front door of the cabin she had been
calling “home” for a while, her arms full of grocery bags. She set the bags down on the table, and walked towards the living room, to see if her sister was in there.
“Hi Is” said Lana, looking up from the magazine she was reading.
“Hey Lana” said Isobel, leaning in the doorway.
Lana got the hint, got up, and headed toward the kitchen, following Isobel. They began to unpack the grocery bags.
“So, what did you find out?” asked Lana.
“Not much. They’re just interns. But I got the digital photos of their security tags. I haven’t seen the pictures, but we should be able to copy the security bar-code to get in. That should be easy” said Isobel, folding some of the now empty grocery bags, and putting them under the sink.
“Perfect” said Lana, an evil smile crossing her face.
“Did you ever get the map to get in? A safe way in?”asked Isobel.
“Yeah, here let me show you” said Lana, leading her sister into a smaller office like room.
Lana sat on the computer chair, and showed Isobel the plan on how to get in.
“Great! It’s easy. Like taking candy from a baby” said Isobel, rubbing her hands together maniacally.
“Right. Now we can get busy with this. We have lots of work to do. We’ve gotta start right now” said Lana.
Isobel walked over to the counter, grabbed her keys, and her jacket that was draped over a chair, and began to leave.
“And where do you think you’re going?” asked Lana.
“Out for a while. I need a little “me time”, if you know what I mean” said Isobel, shutting the door behind her.
Lana leaned back and sighed. She loved her sister dearly, but sometimes she just aggravated her. She knew that her sister had the brains, but Lana was the leader. Isobel was always so quiet, and so kind, that she just wasn’t a good leader type. Lana was the opposite. Lana knew she was good at being a leader, and she knew that Isobel knew, but she wondered if sometimes her sister was jealous. She didn’t mean to be bossy. They were both needed. As sisters, and as partners. They couldn’t pull off what they do without one another. And both knew that, but sometimes they didn’t like it. Isobel was just so stubborn sometimes. Lana couldn’t stand it. She had been that way since the death of their parents. At first, she thought it was a phase. And now she knows it’s forever.
Isobel climbed into the car, and started it up. She needed some time alone. Her sister was too bossy. She knew that she did most of the leading, and that she probably couldn’t do that herself, but she was too bossy about it. She mad Isobel feel so small. But Isobel wasn’t always that sensitive. Only after some bad things she was.
She drove down the road, and pulled into a small café in the outskirts of town. She climbed out of the car, sighed, and walked into the café. She sat down, ordered a coffee, and began to think to herself. She opened the briefcase she was carrying with her, and pulled out some papers. She pulled out a pen, and began to jot away at the maps and papers that were now scattered across the table. She was working on a plan to get in, and get what they needed.
