Meat The Parents

What is this feeling I have deep inside? This was the den of the monsters in-laws was it not? The mother seemed nice enough as she passes you a napkin. The sister smiles your way quickly, but changes the song on her ipod nodding to the beat. The table was set, the father was no where to be seen. There was no food on the table just a sad flaming red tissue paper turkey center piece surround by two slow burning candles on ether side of it. The moon hung it’s self on the curtains near the back of the dinning room. Miles away from another human, where there are more trees than creatures, Jeremy told you before dinner. An owl screeched outside in a tall tree. It was getting late. A low bang at the back of the house as foot falls came into the dining room. The father came in with wild look in his eyes and blood dripping down the corner of his mouth. From his shoulder he tossed four dead rabbit on the table. Shock filled my face as he the rest of the family started to devour their share of the rabbits. Eat up he told me. Before they get cold and you can’t taste the freshness of their blood anymore. The sister reached for the rabbit close to me as she started to finish her own. A low growl rumbled the depths of my throat as I snatched up my rabbit. That’s a girl welcome to the family, the father laughed loudly. Now this is what I call a family thanksgiving.
