An Angel’s Farewell

He flies through her window

Wings moving silently

He doesn’t touch the floor

For fear of leaving footprints

He walks to the bedside

Of the reposing child

He knows he mustn’t wake her

He couldn’t stand to make her cry

His black hair falls in front of his face

But he cares not a bit

He watches the child lovingly

For the last time

He knew he had to leave her

Eventually

It was fated from the start

Yet to see her so young and helpless

Golden eyes start to water

He had stayed by her side

Since the day she was first alone

Since she had learned to cry

Since the day she first bled

To leave her now tore him inside

But he knew he must

She has to learn to depend on no one

The world is a cruel place (prison?)

The days she spent with her angel

Were beautifully numbered

But nothing lasts forever

Only a little while

The angel kisses her on the forehead

Brushes the hair off her soft face

He spread his wings and leaves her

Forever

Yet the girl would not cry

She knew she would understand

Someday

Golden eyes look back at her in the mirror

Darsha resides in her
