To write me a last clause?

Would you have parted in sorrow?

Would you have taken one look

To whom there’d be no tomorrow?

Would you have celebrated life?

Would you have become overjoyed

And laid destitute the knife?

Would you have stayed by my bed?

Would you have cried at my side

Till your tears drenched my head?

Would you have been hesitant to go?

Would you have cradled my head

And pleaded for my eyes to show?

Would I still be here today?
