She screamed out;
“Don’t lift your pen from the paper”
And we all turned to stare.
But she was just calling out,
It was all she could do to keep from
Breaking down.
But we all left her to do it on her own,
Because none of us knew what to do with her.
She was a mystery to us.

And the year changed
We all grew a little older,
And we are
Looking back.
Seeing all those boys we looked out for,
Seeing them leave and move on,
We are still back here,
As the years keep on changing.

The snow begins to fall,
But soon it will melt away, and
Fade into spring.
Soon the bruises will fade and heal,
The money will be replaced by hours of work,
The kids will be safe at home,
Nothing left to worry about.
Another year gone by.
