The Moon Girl

From the edge of the light, I watch the darkness

Watching those who have fallen to the depths of their hell

Wanting, waiting, wishing, hoping, praying

That I can find and guide someone, back to the light

Then darkness commences to surround me

But loyal to my origins, I light a candle

Fragile light, I pray it burns through the night

Even so this darkness seems endless, I need the light

And with the final rays of my dying flame, a light appears in the distance

A girl, shining like the moon should shine bright in the sky, ever moving closer and closer

My eyes glued to her, never noticing my last ray fading away

I lose sight of all that is around me,

only leaving her for concentration to keep my sanity in this darkness

Her light appears before me, face to face, we gaze into each others eyes

Her eyes are beautiful, but who is she? Is this the end of my life, into the eternal dream?

Or maybe a this is real, nothing more real than the truth in her sad eyes,

her life, her dreams, her spirit is bleeding

She falls before me, and before she hits the dirty ground,

my arms caught her light body with haste

Her long brown hair, softly waves around my arms

I lay her head gently on my shoulder, my other hand,

holding the back of her head, surrounded by her flowing hair

She picks up her knees and kneels before me, her arms wrapping around my body

She starts to cry lightly in my arms, as I let all her emotions pour out of her restless soul

My weakness is shattered by her pain, allowing me to live with reason again

She takes her head away from my shoulder slowly, and smiles, taking my breath away

My smile answers her slowly, and tears still weep from her eyes

My hands move below her eyes, and I wipe her tears away from her gorgeous eyes

Then we both get on our feet, I nod to her, and she nods back,

And holding our small smiles, we turn, and take each others hand, and we take a step forth

And now onward we walk together, hand in hand,

through the endless darkness, looking for the bright horizon

Back, looking for somewhere we belong

She is the moon of my endless night.
