This Isn't A Poem...

How can you love someone so deeply it feels like water

How can your skin crawl with need for them

How can your laughter never cease

How can you want someone everyday

For three and a half years

Summer after summer

Winter after winter

How can someone so unusual

Be so god damn beautiful

How can God tease a girl like this

How can you survive on a diet of daydreams

How can you see someone

Every

Day

And pretend like nothing’s wrong

Like the laughter is because of the jokes

Like there aren’t any tears locked in your chest

Like your heart isn’t going crazy with the sigh of his breath

Over skin that feels longing so deep it physically hurts

How can you live like that?

And still be so happy?

I wish I knew too.

I guess I’m just lucky.
