One warm evening on Christmas day, the sun was setting and having a good time. It's always quite relieved to retire at the end of the day. Everything around was calm. In particular, one field of grass surrounded completely by a forest of oak trees arranged in a perfect circle around the field so that if you looked straight down at it, it would look very similar to a fighting ring.
Not even a blade of grass was stirring. There were no living creatures, no bugs, and not even a single gust of wind. All this is why it was so surprising when the crabs gushed out of the forest screaming at the top of their lungs.
Their voices were filled with such malice that you couldn't even fathom what could have possibly happened to make them so mad. In fact, you wouldn't even have known what they were charging toward. That was until the leprechauns came from the other side.
Actually, technically the leprechauns came from the side of the crabs so that their paths formed a ninety degree angle, but that's not really important. As soon as these armies met, they locked themselves in rabid combat. There was kicking, punching, snapping, screaming, and any other manner in which one can fight.
The sun, which still hadn't quite set yet, was surprised to see this incredible display of emotion from a group of mindless animals and another group of mythical beings. And who wouldn't be? The sun was so surprised, however, that without thinking, it started rising up again.
Now, everyone knows that the sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. Therefore, when the sun started rising in the west, all sorts of odd things were happening. The clouds started raining blood, the grass was spontaneosly combusting, trees were falling down in forests with no one around to hear. The intensity of this battle just kept growing.
The fight came down to just one member from either side of the battle fighting against each other. These two were excellent fighters. It seemed like no one could win. That was until the crab chopped off one of the leprechaun's arms with his pincer and just as he was going to stab the leprechaun in the eye, the grass beneath him spontaneously combusted and the crab was incapable of stopping, dropping, and rolling. The leprechaun called the fire department, but they couldn't get there in time so the crab met with a painful, fiery death.
At the close of this battle, the sun became uninterested once again and decided he ought to set just as he intended in the first place. Christmas resumed as it normally would, but got a few extra hours because of this battle.
